Ardour exists since 2004 and we have experienced a lot since then and developed and implemented solutions for many clients. Our Ardour chronicle gives you an insight into our journey.

Our mission

wtfdivi014-url56

Our mission statement provides us guidance and reflects our view of consulting.

We want to be the management consultancy in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and UK that the managers of all levels of management think of when looking for external support to solve a problem in IT management or IT sourcing.
We help, design, implement and advise so that our clients with our support improve your IT management and “increase corporate values measurably” (value proposition of IT). We want you to be personally “valued” by your supervisor and colleagues. We express this mission in our slogan:

make others great!

We just don’t go about doing our jobs but are very conscious of our values:

Entitlement Enthusiasm Integrity Loyalty.

Our USP

wtfdivi014-url46

Those who know us are aware that we are different. Therefore, we cannot be deployed for every assignment. And that’s just as well.

We are independent.

Independent of IT product or software vendors. Independent of IT or Cloud service providers. Independent within our own firm. Different than other organizations and do not have an implementation army that must be utilized and who could “cloud” our advice as consultants. This independence as advisors is important to our clients.

We think and develop “business-oriented” IT and sourcing strategies. By this we mean that the objectives, expectations and strategies of our business leaders are at the heart of the actions and decisions of IT managers. We have had very good experience with tuning in the business and IT managers together on a “business-driven” IT strategy. Not an easy job. Very different interests and affinities for IT clash here. If modern IT in the digitalization age aspires to play the role of a “business partner” then certain skills should either be in place or developed. These extend beyond pure IT knowledge. We are convinced of the fact that IT in the future will be more like a manager of changes or service integrator in a multi-supplier ecosystem. The role of the IT-provider will be limited to central core competencies.
Our customers appreciate our methodological, i.e. systematic and rigorous, working style. The problems in IT management are often very complex, where “pragmatic” approaches are often fast indeed but do not act sustainably. Therefore, whenever the project situation allows, we approach troubleshooting methodically and have developed various frameworks and tools for the same. First, we structure the subject to fully grasp the problem in its network (complexity). But it should not be a matter of worry that we get into “analyzing a wolf” and produce no real results. We do not put the methodology ahead of the solution. There are project situations where pragmatic problem solving is called for, with fewer heuristics and much practical experience. We master both consulting methodologies.

What our customers say about us

wtfdivi014-url51
In the past two years, Ardour did an excellent job in all aspects of the IT Sourcing Advisory and the entire IT sourcing lifecycle, including IT-vendor optimization. In literally all areas from the start of the sourcing lifecycles, beginning with the sourcing strategy till in-sourcing / back-sourcing, Ardour provided us very competent and convincing technical expertise. In particular, the challenge to set up framework agreements in a relatively short time with several international IT service providers, to negotiate and conclude, and “to breathe life into” the framework contracts, would have been impossible without Ardour.

Head of Application Management and Strategic Vendor Management
Global Bank

The Ardour team has supported us with convincing technical expertise in the design and implementation of our sourcing strategy and carried out as a seasoned presenter a clearly structured and transparent tendering process and supported us till the contract negotiations.

Head of Shared Service Center
Automotive Company

A differentiated analysis that quickly delivered concrete suggestions for PPM optimization. So the tools used immediately created the necessary transparency and visualized the strengths and weaknesses well. “Another positive is that Ardour considered PPM together with other processes (e.g. EA management) and always brought in their own opinion.

Head of Corporate IT-PPM/EAM
Energy/Utility Company

Ardour led us convincingly and professionally in advancing our EAM concept, the EAM tool selection and introduction across the group. This highlighted Ardour’s strength to be able to communicate and work flexibly at various levels.

Head of Corporate EAM
Energy/Utility Company

What I liked at Ardour was that they did not approach the issue of EAM dogmatically but besides the conceptual strength always had the practical implementation in view. I have also received specific design recommendations for the integration of EAM to other IT management areas. And it was fun!

Head of BPM/EAM

QUICK-CHECK

wtfdivi014-url115

Start our short quick check to find out whether we are suited to you and if our wavelengths match. Please determine how important certain features or attitudes are for you:

  • How important is the size of a consultancy for you?
  • How important is the “brand” of the consultant for your tasks?
  • Do you solve problems methodically?
  • Do you expect healthy pragmatism at the right places?
  • If the consultant has frameworks for specific topics (e.g. IT Sourcing Advisory framework in order to effectively carry-out tenders for IT services)
  • Should the consultant do “plain talk” even if his/her opinion is “uncomfortable”?

WHY WE HAVE ROLE MODELS

wtfdivi014-url44

Role models broaden one’s thinking and acting space. They provide behaviors that can be emulated when needed. They provide perspectives for alternative or new ways of life or solutions. Role models show through their actions (not just words!), what other behaviors, goals or values are possible. They visualize goals. Empathizing in a role model helps in changing one’s own behavior and make it real for oneself. They enhance one’s own skills. Studies show that certain skills can be enhanced by engaging with the role models who displayed these skills.

Our role models

Our role models and what they have done is often unknown (left out). How many know that Bertha Benz helped her husband’s invention reach a breakthrough. How many know that Tenzing Norgay was the first man who climbed Mount Everest. And how many know Mimi Silbert, the person who showed how processes of change function in people operating under very difficult conditions. They all represent our role as consultants: advisors and catalysts, coaches and change managers.

Berta Benz

Berta Benz Cäcilie Bertha Benz was a pioneer. Through her tireless efforts she helped in getting acceptance for the invention, the Benz Patent Motor Car that was made by her husband, Carl Benz. With the first long-distance journey in an automobile, she proved the suitability of the new means of transport. What did she show with her historic journey? If you are convinced of something, never give up and with creativity and passion help others reach success.

Dr. Mimi Silbert

Mimi SilbertDr. Mimi Silbert is the co-founder of the Delancey Street Foundation – a very successful institution to reintegrate people into society. Through her change approach she manages to keep the usual relapse rates low. Her principles also help to sustainably anchor changes in organizations. Her often copied recipe for success: actively help people when they are on their way to make changes and believe in them.

Tenzing Norgay

Tenzing Norgay Sardar Tenzing Norgay Sherpa was a Nepalese-Indian mountaineer, high-altitude porter and a member of the Sherpa community. In 1953 he was the first climber to the Mount Everest along with the New Zealander Edmund Hillary. His motto: “No one, on a mountain or elsewhere, gets more out of anything than he puts into it. Be great, make others great. “
